Power Plant Assessment

Risk Engineering Track

Date: 25 March 2020
Times: 10 AM London Time with a recorded replay at 3 PM London Time

Large power plants, regardless of their type, are complex properties that require careful risk assessments to ensure underwriters and operators alike are fully aware of the different exposures. Many significant exposures in power plants, conventional or renewable, are related to the plant location. Accessibility, availability of expertise, accuracy of weather data as well as socioeconomic factors all impact the quality of the risk in any power plant.

In this webinar the presenter will look at the risks associated with different power plant sites, as well as possible effects that location has on different types of plants – including nuclear, coal, gas, solar, wind or geothermal. Examples of complex losses at power plants that are attributed to their locations will be studied. The presenter will identify various hazards and discuss techniques to overcome challenges after a loss event.
