Engineering Risks in Steel Plants

Risk Engineering Track

The operation of steel plants presents a number of risks that can result in serious damage and—as seen in recent years—injury and loss of life. A fire at the Bhilai Steel Plant in November 2018, for example, resulted in the loss of twelve lives in addition to the injury of eleven workers. The damage caused by a fire such as this can reach millions of dollars. With such severe consequences resulting from the mismanagement of risks in these environments, it becomes especially necessary to understand how steel plants operate and what can be done to avoid catastrophes in the future.

This webinar looks at the risks associated with steel plants globally, including fire risks in addition to machinery breakdown and other risks. Our presenter will use real case studies to illustrate the risks inherent to steel plants, and what should be considered when working to mitigate these losses.
