Fire at polyurethane plant

The company designs and manufactures mannequins from polyurethane for sale to local retailers. Raw materials are received from suppliers and are mixed, heat treated and moulded into shape to create mannequins according to required dimensions. A fire broke out at one corner of the plant and was detected quickly by the watchman on site. The limited resources of the local civil defence firefighting crews made it necessary to call in backups, which arrived approximately 90 minutes later. As a result, the fire grew and spread aggressively, especially after igniting the raw material warehouse within the plant. CEERISK engineers investigated the cause of the fire and were able to identify contributing factors that caused the aggressive spread at the site.
