Wind Turbine Claims: New Technologies & Claim Trends

Wind energy involves the operation of several components that are susceptible to mechanical/electrical breakdown in addition to failures caused by natural catastrophes. These failures lead to major and complex insurance claims that must be investigated and dealt with by loss adjusters and insurers.

Additionally, deployment of wind energy in remote locations creates additional challenge that complicates many wind energy claims.

This webinar presents an expert’s perspective of engineering investigations required to determine the cause following a wind turbine claim. The presenters will use several case studies to highlight the various steps required to complete the RCA process and determine the cause accurately. The webinar will mostly cover onshore wind turbines, though offshore wind farms will also be discussed and will discuss fire losses, lightning, foundation damage in addition to mechanical breakdown of different components including rotor lock pin mechanism.

The webinar will also touch on claims involving peripheral systems, including transformers, capacitor banks and SCADA systems.
