Investigating Lithium-Ion Battery Fires

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are located within substations to store energy generated by renewable energy sources, including wind and solar power, which are only able to generate power during favourable weather conditions. As the demand for renewable energy increases, advances have been made in BESS technology.

In recent years there have been a number of reported losses involving lithium-ion batteries used in energy storage systems, with damages reaching a total of over USD 10 million.

This webinar looks at uses of batteries, investigation of fires involving battery energy storage systems, and thermal management of batteries. In addition to providing technical information, we will also look at case studies involving battery fires.
