In recent years the effect of a changing climate have been observed, with weather conditions occurring regularly that were considered ‘once in a lifetime’ over a decade ago. As a result, new hazards have arisen.

Buildings and other structures constructed decades ago, in accordance to the conditions of the environment at the time, are now withstanding weather conditions that are very different and much more extreme.
