We are pleased to sponsor a visit to Cruachan Hydro-Plant & Whitelee Wind Farm in West Scotland, alongside Onshore Energy Conference.
During this two-day visit, participants will have the opportunity for a guided tour of both locations, and on the second day, Mamoon Alyah will be giving a presentation on The Known and Unknown in Wind Energy.
Located on a branch of Loch Awe leading to River Awe, Cruachan Hydro-Plant is a pumped-storage hydroelectric plant and is one of four pumped storage schemes in the UK.
Whitelee Wind Farm, the largest onshore windfarm in the UK, has 215 turbines that generate enough to power just under 300,000 homes. Whitelee Wind Farm will be a major contributor to Scotland’s goal of having 100% of power generated through renewable energy sources.
