CEERISK Consulting sponsored the OEC (Energy Claims Conference), held in the DIFC in Dubai, UAE on 25 April 2018.
The conference was attended by a large number of industry executives, insurance professionals and services providers who are involved in the management and handling of insurance claims from onshore energy properties.
During the conference, speakers from energy companies in the Middle East and (re)insurers discussed challenges facing the industry in light of the rapid changes experienced by corporations and their insurers. Discussed at the conference were a range of topics including risk management in the current world economic conditions, political and operational risks facing manufacturers in the region, trends in the energy insurance industry, geopolitics and other concerns relevant to the industry.
CEERISK Managing Director, Mamoon Alyah gave a presentation on “Investigating Claims in Utility -Scale PV Plants” that focused on the challenge of investigating claims in the Middle East. He cited the explosive growth of PV power plant construction in the Middle East as one reason behind the increased number of claims. Mr Alyah also spoke on the challenge of investigating the root cause of losses in these types of projects and provided recommendations on how to effectively manage the handling of claims arising during construction and operation of utility scale PV plants.
Yazeed Jarrar, Technical Manager of CEERISK office in Abu Dhabi commented that the conference was one of the best organised for some time, bringing together a large number of professionals in the market and creating a pleasant and well-organised network environment, where ideas were shared on how to continue developing the market and improve its efficiency.
