Ageing Power Transformer Breakdown Risk

Risk Engineering Track

Please note that due to disruptions caused by COVID-19, the webinar has been rescheduled from 22 April to 29 April.

Date: 29 April 2020
Times: 10 AM London Time with a recorded replay at 3 PM London Time

Following the positive reception of last week's webinar, we present a follow-up to Ageing Power Transformer Breakdown Risk, where we will be looking at case studies involving transformer failure.

Date: 6 May 2020
Times: 10 AM London Time with a recorded replay at 3 PM London Time

Every facility uses a large power transformer to regulate the main power source to the facility. A failure of the transformer will result in a total shutdown, potentially costing a company thousands due to the business interruption—or more, if the failure results in a fire or explosion that damages the machine itself or its surroundings.

Transformer failure is the result of a complex engineering process that is generally not understood across the board. This is a contributing factor in the challenges that large power transformers present to (re)insurers and loss adjusters when looking at the risks associated with transformers and the consequences of losses.

In the past our experts have discussed ageing electrical equipment in transmission substations. This webinar looks to continue to expand upon those principals.
