CEERISK Jordan to organise workshop in Jordan on damage assessment after fire

Damage Assessment After the Fire

The reinstatement of equipment remains a consistent challenge facing insurers and their clients alike during the aftermath of a fire. Deciding whether the best reinstatement option is to repair or replace the damaged equipment is a choice made by first considering many factors. The easiest to understand is the cost and time required for reinstatement. These, however, is far from the only factor that must be considered. Subjective factors such as reliability, warranty and long-term effects on the loss of equipment must also be examined – and to do so accurately often requires expert engineering analysis.

This workshop addresses all factors that must be accounted for when deciding whether to repair or replace damaged equipment, along with what different reinstatement options are available. Examples from real cases are used to look at what reinstatement options might be appropriate under what circumstances, and the benefits and consequences associated with each of them.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants should have a detailed understanding of the following:

  1. The impact on equipment following a fire loss
  2. Analysis of risk of failure including heat damage and smoke contamination
  3. Determining the nature and extent of equipment damage following a fire
  4. How the scientific method is used to identify the most appropriate reinstatement option
  5. The different costs of different reinstatement options
